One of my favourite author a life time! Ken Follet. Saya selalu menyukai karya-karyanya. Dan Fall of Giants bukan karya pertama yang saya baca. Spesialisasi Follet adalah fiksi sejarah yang bukan melulu romansa.

Fall of Giants adalah buku pertama dari Trilogi Century. Menceritakan tentang kaitan keluarga-keluarga beda bangsa dalam drama hidup di masa Perang Dunia I. Seolah-olah saya ikut berkelana melalui puing-puing bangunan dan runtuhnya kehidupan sosial di masa itu.

Untuk beberapa kelompok kehidupan, saya bisa membayangkan latar dan ikut terlibat di dalamnya. Namun untuk beberapa lainnya saya kurang bisa terlibat, misalnya kehidupan Gregory Peshkov. Entah karena saya kurang familiar dengan latar Rusia di zaman itu atau karena latar belakang cerita yang cenderung suram.

In the end, meski tebal dan berbahasa Inggris, Ken Follet belum pernah gagal memukau saya..
